We will partner with an organization called Go MAD Ministries that seeks to combat human exploitation. The bulk of our time will be spent working with children in Go MAD sponsored schools and medical clinics. We will also engage in community ministry in the neighborhoods where the schools are located. Specifically on this trip, we will be the first group to begin work in a new village called Redemption Village and to help construct a concrete wall in Canta La Rana. For more info on the ministry go to www.gomadtoday.org.

Where will we stay?
In a beachfront hotel called Sosua by the Sea. The hotel is about 10 miles from the airport that we fly in to. More info can be found at www.sosuabythesea.com.

What will we eat?
We will eat all of our meals in the hotel’s buffet style restaurant. This also means we will never be far from the hotel.

How will we travel to the DR?
Via American Airlines we will take an early morning flight out of DFW to Charlotte and then on to Puerta Plata on Saturday, December 14th. We will be on the ground in the DR around 1:50PM (local time). On our return, we will fly out after lunch and have a few hour layover in Miami before returning to DFW around midnight.

How will we travel to the airport?
Pending group size and cost, we are looking to charter a bus to the airport from the church.

How will we travel once in the DR?
GoMAD will rent buses for us as we go to and from the the airport and the hotel daily.

What does the cost include?
Fees cover airfare, hotel, meals, transportation, translators, entry taxes, supplies for ministry, and free day activities.

What does the cost NOT include?
The fees do not cover any extra spending money, airport meals, internet fees (optional) and snacks that may be purchased.

Is the water safe?
Yes and no. The water out of the tap is NOT SAFE for drinking. However, the hotel provides large Culligan jugs around the hotel to refill personal water bottles.

What language do they speak?
In the DR we will experience a few different languages, but primarily the locals speak spanish. When we go into Haitian villages, they will speak Creole. We will have active translators with us at all times.

What will the packing requirements be?
Like most any trip, airlines require each bag to be under 50lbs and no larger than 62 linear inches. You will be limited to one checked bag, one carry-on, and one personal item.
